Enhancing Democratic Resilience in Crises
Donor: National Endowment for Democracy
Duration: October 2021 to January 2025
With support from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), TI-LB worked to enhance democratic resilience by empowering youth and citizens through anti-corruption education and local advocacy. Activities included awareness sessions in Akkar and Tripoli, 3 town hall meetings in Tripoli Mina, Akkar and Donieh, and the structuring for the launch of the Concerned Citizens Committees (CCCs) to promote civic dialogue. Despite on-the-ground disruptions, the project contributed to reinforcing democratic practices and community engagement.
However, due to the escalation of the security situation in Lebanon in 2024, the project was reallocated to fund the creation of a platform to monitor aid in times of crisis.
TI-LB developed the Lebanese Aid Monitoring Platform (LAMP) to track humanitarian aid during the 2024 war. The platform provides real-time data on aid value, item distribution, and donor types, with visual dashboards and detailed metadata including News IDs, credibility ratings, and allocation statuses. The system uses a multi-step verification process, sourcing from news outlets, government agencies, and NGOs. It enables civil society and donors to monitor wartime aid flows, even in contexts of partial official transparency.
