On March 10, 2009 LTA launched the Lebanese Advocacy and Legal Advice Center (LALAC), a model developed by Transparency International, implemented in 33 countries, and adapted to the Lebanese context. LALAC aims at generating dialogue on corruption issues, and developing partnerships with government institutions dealing with anti-corruption. LALAC also seeks to shed the light on citizens’ concerns and complaints on corruption and builds on accordingly the structural changes needed for better local and national governance.LALAC provides legal advice and assistance to victims and witnesses of corruption. Furthermore, it helps citizens pursue corruption-related complaints, encouraging them to speak up. Using cases’ gained information (either individual cases or common themes running through a variety of cases observed), LALAC is then able to advocate for reform based on concrete evidence.
